{"id":195,"date":"2010-12-31T12:47:49","date_gmt":"2010-12-31T18:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unifiedcomputingblog.com\/?p=195"},"modified":"2010-12-31T12:47:49","modified_gmt":"2010-12-31T18:47:49","slug":"ucsm-1-4-direct-upload-of-firmware-bundles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unifiedcomputingblog.com\/?p=195","title":{"rendered":"UCSM 1.4 : Direct upload of firmware bundles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, so this one isn&#8217;t earth-shattering, but I thought it was worth mentioning.<\/p>\n<p>Previous to UCSM 1.4, the only way to transfer bundles of firmware to UCSM was via an external server &#8211; FTP, TFTP, SCP, or SFTP.\u00a0\u00a0 In most shops, this isn&#8217;t a big deal &#8211; you likely already have a utility server of some type available on your management network(s) for other similar tasks.\u00a0\u00a0 In some scenarios (especially greenfield deployments), though, you may not have ready access to such a server or for other reasons may not want to put your UCS code there.<\/p>\n<p>With 1.4, you can now upload firmware directly from the UCSM client.\u00a0\u00a0 When selecting the Download Firmware option in Firmware Management,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/66.147.244.178\/~unifief1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-31-at-12.43.23-PM1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-196\" title=\"DownloadTasks\" src=\"http:\/\/66.147.244.178\/~unifief1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-31-at-12.43.23-PM1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"354\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You are now presented with the option to either upload a file from your local workstation,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/66.147.244.178\/~unifief1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-31-at-12.44.25-PM1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-197\" title=\"LocalUpload\" src=\"http:\/\/66.147.244.178\/~unifief1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-31-at-12.44.25-PM1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"611\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>or use the traditional method transferring the file from a remote server.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/66.147.244.178\/~unifief1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-31-at-12.44.43-PM1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-198\" title=\"RemoteUpload\" src=\"http:\/\/66.147.244.178\/~unifief1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-31-at-12.44.43-PM1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"535\" height=\"382\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again, not a huge deal, but definitely a nice convenience enhancement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, so this one isn&#8217;t earth-shattering, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
